Canadian police officers are friendly, helpful and honest. Our legal system is fair and efficient. Consequently, it's not likely that you will have an unpleasant experience with the Canadian legal system.

You should, however, be aware of the following laws in British Columbia:

  1. When in a car, the driver and passengers must always wear seat belts.

  2. People under the age of 19 may not drink alcoholic beverages.

  3. It is illegal to drive after drinking alcoholic beverages.

  4. It is illegal to smoke in most public buildings, including the school.
